"Israël" is from the word "sara" - to fight, to fight, to rule. Also from the word "yisra" - "he will fight". 
Some translations of the word "Israel" are:
1.    "Isra'il" - "resh", "alef", points to the verb "to see". "Seeing God" or "spirit-visionary." 
"Israel" is a spiritual calling of a person and people to "see God", i.e. to know and do the Will of their Creator. 
2.    "Israil" - "Warrior of God", "One who is a warrior". God's messengers are His spiritual "Warriors" because they have always conducted and continue to conduct irreconcilable spiritual "War", struggle, battle with any opposition to His Will, with perversion of His Word, with various false ideologies, dogmas.   
"Israel" is a "Warrior" nation, a "Fighter" nation, for it spiritually fights both its own vices and the pagan worldview and way of life of other nations to affirm in their minds the Faith in the One God Jehovah and the fulfillment of His Commandments.   
3.    "Israel" is "the Prince of God" (from "sarah" - "to rule"). "He will rule, reign," "he will be the messenger of God.                                                                   
"Israel" is a people who carry out God's Commandments, who so begin to rule over their sinful impulses of the flesh. The righteous lifestyle of such a people as God's "Messenger" will inevitably dominate the minds of other nations as well.
4.    "Israel" - "He who is called to proclaim in the nations the "Name" of God, to reveal to the nations the essence of His "Imee", that is, His Will.   
  The people, enlightened by Abraham about the faith in the existence of One God, later became the people of "Israel", called to proclaim His Truth to the other peoples.
5.     "Israel" ("Yahshar") means "straight," "the righteousness of God," or "the righteousness of God." 
"Israel" is the people who live according to the Truth indicated by God in His Commandments, and who are therefore rightly "Israelites". 
6.    "Isra'il" - Heb.   "ball," "the singer of God."  The compound word "Israel" - "Yesh", means "the entity that sings of God", "the one who sings of God".     
     The "people of Israel" are all the people who, by their righteous living, by preaching the holy Will of Jehovah God to other nations, "sing", glorify - bring Glory to their Creator.

"Israel" are the people who know and do the Will of God and in its revelation realized their spiritual calling and election to proclaim the "Name" of God to all nations, i.e. to reveal His true Essence, originally expressed in the Wisdom of His Will - in the beneficial Laws of Life, in His Commandments and fully revealed again in the Gospel Teaching of Jesus Christ. 
"Israel" is all the righteous people who, for the first time in history, proclaimed to mankind the Doctrine of the One God and His Covenants.  
 "True Israel" is a people who are spiritually gathered from all nations, united by the One Faith in God Jehovah. They are God's light bearers, spiritual warriors, fighters against the darkness of lawlessness.       
"Israel," i.e., the people of the "Fighter," the "Warrior of God," comes from the first righteous man Abel.
 "Israël" symbolizes the spiritual Assembly of the people who do the Will of God, and thus he is the "Son" of God.  
 Negative meaning.
 "Israel" is a people who know but pervert and violate the Will of God, His Commandments.
