"Ransom," "redemption" is a measure, a price, paid for liberation, deliverance from something, someone.
"Redemption" is a symbol of God's Will revealed to man, His Commandments, "redeeming," freeing man, who follows them, from the power of sin and death.
"Ransom" is an example of the pious, ascetic, self-sacrificing life of all the Patriarchs, Prophets, Jesus Christ and His Apostles, who preached the Good News, showed the nations the spiritual Way, the way of deliverance, of liberation from sin and its deadly consequences.
"Redemption" is also a symbol of a righteous way of life that "redeems," frees, delivers, delivers man from the vicious demands of the flesh, from dependence on the temptations of the sinful world around him, from slavery to sin, from committing sin and its consequences.
