"Belt" - Heb. "hashev" from the verb "hashav," i.e., "to bind," in the sense of to strengthen, to make strong, to be firm, and also "to think," "to count," "to think," assembled, whole, strengthened in the truth of thinking, "to honor," since the thought process is the "binding" of causes to effects.

"Girding" a man with a leather belt is a symbol of his willingness to serve the Word of God's Will.
