Aviv

"Abib" is the first month of the holy year and the seventh month of the civil year among the people of Israel, who took all the texts of Scripture literally.

"Aviv" is also called by the Babylonian word "Nisan," translated "ears."

This month is called "the month of ears" because in this month the bread begins to spike, to ripen, which symbolizes the spiritual maturity of the people of Israel in their willingness to emerge from their subjugation to the patterns of a sinful world. According to the literal account, in the month of "Abib" God led the people of Israel out of "Egypt."

The biblical, spiritually figurative meaning of this month's name is that the "Exodus," that is, the spiritual deliverance of the people of Israel from "Egypt," that is, from the sinful, pagan world, marks the appearance of the first "Bread," that is, the first fruits of the Good News performed by Moses and Aaron - the appearance of a new, righteous life for the people.

The month of "Abib" (ears) - symbolizes the fullness and measure of man's giving of his physical and spiritual abilities in service to the Will of God.
