"Underworld" is a symbol of the extremely sinful state of man and society, morally corrupted, spiritually "dead", i.e., lowered to an animal, bestial way of life due to the inevitable and natural process of spiritual fall of man, consciously doing evil, lawlessness.

"Underworld" is also a symbol of complex historical, tragic periods of sinful life and various spheres of spiritless, vicious activities of peoples, where their complete spiritual and moral decay is manifested, where there is no Light of knowledge and fulfillment of the Will of God, where a cruel system of political, religious, economic violence and deception rules, keeping peoples in bondage to sin, - the satisfaction of sinful desires of the flesh.
