"Desert" is a sinfully living nation, morally, morally devastated, "dried up", deprived of the true "Water of Life", i.e. knowledge of the Wisdom of the Word of God's Will, guidance of God's Will due to its rejection, violation, perversion of God's Commandments.

"Desert" is the image of the peoples who do not want to follow the Commandments of God and therefore are in a spiritually desolate, immoral, spiritless state, deprived of the landmarks of true life, living, wandering in the "Desert" of sin and iniquity.
