"Repentance" - Heb. "Shuvu" - means - "return", "return", in the meaning:

return to God, turn to the knowledge and fulfillment of His Commandments, to the restoration of the spiritual "Image" and "Likeness" of God, lost due to the spiritual fall of the first Man.

"Repentance" is the realization, recognition, confession by man before God of his transgressions, wickedness, violations, distortions of His Will expressed in His Commandments.

 "Repent" means to realize and admit one's wrongdoing before one's conscience and God's Commandments, to stop doing what is contrary to God's Will, to change internally, to decide to start a new way of thinking and acting, to make a spiritual change in oneself - to start living according to God's Will, His Commandments.
