"Sword" is the spiritual "weapon" of God, symbolizing the Word of Truth of the Will of God, preached by the Righteous, and so defending, protecting the Truth, the Sanctity of the action of His Laws, Commandments, expressed in the Holy Scriptures, which reveals and destroys any opposition to them, destroys wrong thinking and sinful deeds in man, destroys the lies of destructive beliefs and ideologies.  

"The sword" is also a symbol of the Laws and Laws originally established by God, which favor those who live according to them and punish those who violate them.
