Lot is the son of Aran, Abraham's brother, one of the physical and spiritual descendants of Terah, Abraham's father, who came out of Ur of the Chaldees.

"Lot" symbolically represents the spiritual "genealogy" of the Righteous in which he was the spiritual successor to the Faith of Abraham.

Lot's Faith was distorted by the "wine of error" of his "Daughters," i.e., two kindred strands of understanding of God's Will, devoid of Truth, which "gave birth to," founded, formed the "Moabites" and the "Ammonites."

Lot is the ancestor of the Moabites and Ammonites - the constant opponents of the true Faith of Abraham.
