"The letter" is the outward form, a peculiar method, method and means of conveying the spiritual images, the true meaning of the Word of the Bible.

"The "letter" of the Bible is the literary basis of its content, the literal presentation of the Old and New Testaments, behind which the "Spirit" of the Scriptures is concealed, i.e. contains their inner, allegorical, symbolic, allegorical, spiritual meaning and significance.

       The literal perception of the Bible is a literal interpretation, interpretation, understanding, and explanation of its texts.

       A superficial, purely literal perception and understanding of the spiritual and figurative texts of the Bible leads to religious fanaticism, mysticism.

       Distorting the true meaning of the spiritual and figurative sayings of Holy Scripture by literal perception alone, theologians of various faiths have replaced many Truths with their false teachings, dogmas so pleasing to pagan mores and traditions.

       Religious pastors, passing off various false interpretations of the Bible as Truth, create dogmas, doctrines, and "traditions" with which they obscure and distort the true meaning of God's Word. Such distorted interpretations have served to give rise to various false beliefs, controversies, and confessional animosities.
