Assur

Assur, the son of Shem and the leader of the Assyrians (Genesis 10:22; 1 Chronicles 1:17);

It is also the southernmost and most ancient of the major cities of Assyria.

"Assur" in the spiritual and figurative sense is the former greatness and perfection of Man before he broke God's covenants.                                                                                       

"Assur" is also a symbolic representation of paganism, which completely enslaves Man.

"Assur" is one of the symbols of sinfully living man and society.
